Overview
The Bourn & Koch 10-4 and 20-4 Series of gear shapers combine the latest technology in mechanical stroking with powerful CNC capabilities to speed operation and enhance accuracy. They can cut internal or external spur or helical gears plus a wide range of noninvolute shapes. Ample standard capacities for pitch diameters up to 20" (508mm) and face widths up to 4" (102mm) plus stroking speeds up to 1300 spm deliver high productivity with versatility to suit many production needs.

The Bourn & Koch Fellows MS450-125 CNC gearless gear shaper is a 6-axis, direct drive CNC gear shaper designed for processing internal and external gears up to 500 mm diameter. The machine is a mechanical stroking gear shaper with a 127 mm cutting face width capability with an optional stroking capability to 170 mm. The design incorporates direct drive spindles, electronic indexing, elevating cutter spindle housing, oriented stiffness CNC controlled linear backoff and optional electronic helix setting for helical gears.

MS 450-125 CNC Gearless Gear Shaping Machine

The feature package of the MS450-125 combines high production rates with the versatility to handle a wide range of work with rapid changeovers. For medium and short run work the simple result is more parts per shift. And true to the tradition of Fellows precision gear shapers it offers unbeaten cutting accuracy.

Versatility that SPEEDS Changeover
The MS50-125 breaks the rule that increased versatility means longer changeover and setup times. Its six (optional 7) axes of direct servo drive eliminate traditional manual changeover tasks. Within many part families you just load the setup parameters and part program, change the cutter and start cutting. MS450-125 capacities handle face widths up to 127 mm (5") and pitch diameters up to 500 mm (20"). Live upright travel of 300mm (11.8") lets you program the stroke position to accommodate work that used to require special equipment and built up fixturing.

Construction Concepts that Add Value
One piece modular design lets you move the MS450-125 in, place it, provide power and start to work. No assembly is required. Shipping, installation and maintenance are easy and fast. An innovative open flow/down-wash chip removal concept minimizes housekeeping. Chips exit the work area directly below the cutting zone, into the rear (optional front) discharge chip conveyor system.
